Happiness Talks!

I was invited to speak at the Happiness Talks! event recently about - Happiness.

For me, happiness is a state of mind - a choice that I make about my attitude.

Many a time we focus on what will make us happy - a new purchase, a specific relationship or person, a vacation, a job, a special meal, a celebration, a call from someone....

These are all external factors and if we were to truly base our happiness on these factors we could and do end up feeling disappointed when we don't get what we want.

From a Spiritual Psychology perspective and the way I understand it, Happiness is the pathway to Joy and Fulfillment.

"When we choose to be happy we are able to access our Inner Joy and Fulfillment."

However happiness on its own without this awareness of it simply being a pathway to Joy and Fulfillment is an incomplete, short term goal.

A principle of Spiritual Psychology that is a game-changer for all of us is:

"How we relate to the issue is not the issue. How we relate to ourselves while going through an issue is the real issue."

Instead of relating to an issue in a way that requires an ideal expected outcome to resolve how we feel and to make us happy, how about exercising choice and choosing how we feel about ourselves regardless of any outcome, seemingly favorable or not.

Joy and Fulfillment come from loving, honoring and respecting ourselves no matter what we're going through.

It's the only way to cultivate and enjoy Self-commitment, Self-Love and Acceptance.
